The history of tea is quite old. In ancient times tea was as precious a trade good as silk. With time, tea was delivered to Japan during the Tang Dynasty (7c-10c). It is assumed that the first tea tree grew in Yunnan/Sichuan province. Correspondently, ancient merchants delivered tea from these southern provinces to Tibet and even to India. And this tea road still remains today. A fascinating fact is that white tea, green tea, black tea, oolong tea, pu'er tea are all made from the same tea tree.
